Deepening Community Ties: DNP's Continued Assistance for Community Members

Building trust within the community is crucial for local organizations to maintain lasting relationships. By consistently demonstrating reliability and understanding, Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP) always hopes to become a dependable source of support. So when a surviving military spouse that DNP has helped in the past reached back out, the DNP team was happy to answer the call.

Martha Boyd, a surviving military spouse who DNP had previously helped with utility bills,  recently contacted the team and followed up for assistance amid another financial hardship. Due to the harsh winter, Martha temporarily relocated to Salt Lake City to seek refuge with family. With her vehicle frequently used by her grandchildren for school and essential errands, Martha struggled to make ends meet, especially with food supplies running low.

DNP's Case Coordinator, Karen Shirley, empathized with Martha's struggle and was happy to help her again. Karen wasted no time reaching out to local partners. After highlighting Martha's circumstances, the Adopt an Elder program responded swiftly and generously, offering to help alleviate Martha's financial strain.

Martha was overjoyed and grateful upon receiving the news. DNP's proactive efforts in securing assistance for Martha underscored the organization's unwavering commitment to supporting veterans and their families during hardship. We plan to continue building relationships with Martha and other community members on the Navajo Nation to sustain our reach and impact further.

Too many veterans and their families are suffering – to the point of taking their lives. Our passionate donors empower the lives of veterans, their families, and caregivers through our upstream approach to reach a veteran before a crisis occurs.

The difference made in this story is thanks to people like you. Please donate today because together, we can do better!
