At the heart of a thriving community lies the overwhelming significance of veterans supporting each other. Such was the case when a veteran, having learned about the Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP) through our growing social media platform, felt moved to make a meaningful contribution to a veteran in need.
Ravone Bauwens is a veteran who recently connected with DNP via social media. Ravone reached out to the DNP team and generously offered a spare 50-gallon electric tank water heater to donate to a veteran in need. Coincidentally DNP was in contact with Army veteran ('79-'82) Alvina Ray Gutierrez, who desperately needed one. DNP's Community Coordination Associate Karen Shirley spoke with Ravone to plan the water heater exchange logistics. The water heater was ready and delivered within a few days, thanks to the support of local partners. Alvina was so grateful for the support from DNP, her fellow female veteran, and the Navajo community.
"You are my guardian angels, DNP" -- Alvina Gutierrez
DNP is proud to support veterans on the Navajo Nation as they forge bonds that nurture strength and empowerment in the community through their service to one another. We will continue to work closely with our partners, service providers, stakeholders, and veterans like Alvina to ensure satisfaction in their daily lives.
The Navajo Nation is stronger when our veterans are stronger. Connect with DNP to learn more about how you can give back to the Navajo veteran community by visiting our website and completing an online form: http://dinenaazbaapartnership.org/
