A strong community is built on supporting one another, especially as our parents age and their mobility changes.
Roberta called Dine Naazbaa Partnership on behalf of her father when his health issues started to affect his mobility. Her father, Robert, is an Army veteran and was in need of a motorized wheelchair due to no longer being able to walk or stand for long periods of time, which also left him stuck in the house and unable to connect with others.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
Karen, DNP’s veteran support advocate, was able to locate only one motorized wheelchair through our community partners – nearly five hours away in Scottsdale. While trying to schedule time to travel to Scottsdale, Karen kept in contact with the location that had the chair in inventory.
Unexpectedly, Karen received a call from a veteran under an hour away in Fort Defiance who was given a motorized chair that he had been using for just over a year; he wanted to gift his chair to another veteran in need.
Robert’s face lit up with joy when his chair arrived. He immediately took a spin around his home and mentioned that he was excited to be able to travel with his family again.
Robert is now able to safely make it to his appointments thanks to the consideration of another veteran who is still giving back to his community. These shared resources turn compassion into action, ensuring that limited mobility never means limited participation in everyday life.
