Every veteran deserves to unlock the support they've diligently earned through selfless service. Unfortunately, only some pursue their benefits due to the notoriously demanding process. So when 76-year-old Northern Navajo veteran Stanley Taylor reached out to Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP) seeking to increase his disability rating, DNP swiftly got to work to provide him the support he needed.
A veteran of the Vietnam era (' 67-'70), Stanley now lives in the more densely-populated area of Hogback, NM. Upon meeting DNP Case Coordinator Karen Shirley, Stanley expressed his desire to raise his disability rating yet harbored reservations about the potentially lengthy procedure. Karen assured Stanley that the DNP team would do everything in our power to streamline this process for him. The Navajo Nation submits rating increases continually, but the approval time is usually quite the wait. While DNP is always a call away for our Navajo veterans, we are always realistic in providing timelines to the veterans.
Karen supported Stanley in this process and recently updated us that he was approved for his increase. Stanley was delighted and thanked Karen for her support, but we thanked him for his service and patience. DNP will keep a line of contact with Stanley and provide him with whatever support he needs to thrive in his community.
The Navajo Nation is stronger when our veterans are stronger. Connect with DNP to learn more about how you can give back to the Navajo veteran community by visiting our website and completing an online form: http://dinenaazbaapartnership.org/
